EDOCOMIC SOLO EXHIBITION わからむ / WAKARAMU

江戸っ子でも、漫画家でもない、イラストレーターEDOCOMIC / @edocomic が制作したモノクロペインティングの新シリーズを浅草813 GALLERYにて展示致します。
展示タイトルの「わからむ」は、「わからん」と「和から無」を掛けております。

主に着物を着たキャラクターを描いてきたイラストレーターが、禅や日本の風習、現代アート等に登場する、「無」または「空」という概念に着目し、それが一体何なのか自問自答し、試行錯誤した生々しい軌跡を、携帯の画面越しではなく、直接ご高覧いただければ幸いです。

EDOCOMIC | YOUKI HAYASHI
1989年生まれのペインター、イラストレーター。浮世絵との出会いによりイラストを描き始める。主に江戸絵画などの和文化と異なる文化を対比、折衷させることを意識し制作を行う。

WAKARAMU, solo exhibition by Japanese illustrator EDOCOMIC which displays his new series of monochrome paintings is held at 813 gallery from June 3 to July 2, 2023, only on Saturdays and Sundays.
The exhibition title WAKARAMU means incomprehensible in Japanese, and it means “ from WA (和, Japanese-style) to MU (無, emptiness) “ as well. While he has been drawing the characters wearing kimonos, he eventually focuses on the concept of “Emptiness” that appears in Zen, Japanese customs, contemporary art, etc, and is trying to express that.
We hope you come to see his attempt to show ”Emptiness” in the paintings in person, not vertually.

EDOCOMIC | YOUKI HAYASHI
Illustrator, Painter born in 1989. He started drawing illustration after encountering Ukiyo-e.
His intention is to blend Japanese culture with other cultures.
